Another Skate Closer!
The Danbury Hockey Booster Club was re-established in August 2007 and
set out to make the above Mission Statement a reality and we are on
the way!
Danbury Board of Ed approves hockey co-op!
On June 11, 2008 the Danbury Board of Education voted unanimously to
allow Danbury High to co-op with one or more area Schools so Danbury Students could play varsity hockey in the 2008/2009 season. (See News
Times article in News Tab). This is a major step and the beginning of a program which will hopefully in the next 2 – 4 years stand on its own and
last for many more years!
Getting to this point was a lot of hard work and the Danbury Hockey Community came together in large numbers to work with DHS to chart a
path to establish and sustain a program. The co-op enables current HS students a place to play in a Varsity Program and also demonstrates to
our Elementary and Middle School students that there is an option for Ice Hockey at DHS. This is the perfect bridge to building a program!
There is a tremendous amount of work still to be done. The HS will focus
on formalizing a co-op with other Schools and the Booster Club must focus
on fund raising. While the co-op was approved all funding must come from donations and fund raising activities.
Please check this site regularly for the fund raising activities and schedule.
Donations: While we have a solid fund raising plan, personal donations
are key to our success. If you would like to make a contribution please
check the donation tab for instructions. Funds will go directly to offset the
cost of ice time and also to continue programs in the community.
Registration: Please register with the club by completing the form – it is important that we continue to track the number of Danbury Children participating in the great sport of Ice Hockey!
