To provide an opportunity to our diverse population of Danbury children to learn and play the sport of Ice Hockey resulting in continuing youth and feeder programs that enable Danbury High School to bring back and sustain an Ice Hockey Team by the year 2009.

Never have there been more Danbury kids taking to the incredible sport of Ice Hockey.  It is a sport that teaches sportsmanship, builds endurance and confidence, teaches a child to never give up and most of all fosters friendships and bonds with teammates like no other sport!  There are over 75 kids in between the ages of 6 and 16 playing or learning to play ice hockey in Danbury, imagine how many will play if we can get a program running similar to that of football, wrestling, soccer, lacrosse etc.

The children of Danbury who play Ice Hockey or are interested in playing Ice Hockey should have the opportunity and privilege to continue competing in this great sport during their High School years.  Unfortunately, many kids today who put so much into Youth Hockey or desire to play Ice Hockey have no option when they arrive at DHS.  At the same time, all other High Schools in the Greater Danbury Area are able to offer an Ice Hockey Program to their students despite the fact that their enrollment is much less than DHS.

Couple this with the fact that at DHS today there are 28 other Athletic Teams approved by the Danbury Board of Education and when you count up the different levels there are 59 teams fielded and competing.  In addition, there are various other organizations such as the marching band, choir, etc. successfully functioning.  There is no reason Ice Hockey cannot come back to DHS and the School is open to partnering with us to make this happen!  Regular meetings have been occurring with the HS over the last 7 months and we are jointly making outstanding progress.

In order to make Ice Hockey a reality at DHS we must continue to increase the number of Danbury children playing this great Sport and demonstrate to the HS that not only can a Program be established but more importantly we can sustain a competitive Program.  As a means to accomplish this we have created the Danbury Hockey Booster Club which will serve many purposes.

Our first goal was to help establish free Hockey Clinics for children of all ages in Danbury and thanks to the Danbury Ice Arena - 4 clinics were provided in the month of December and than again in the month of March.  These programs were run by Cliff Gillman and the Danbury Ice Arena.  If you know of anyone interested in learning to play Ice Hockey please encourage those folks to contact Cliff Gillman at 203-794-1704.  The Ice Arena regularly has Learn to Play programs running at reasonable costs.

Now is the time no matter what age the future DHS Ice Hockey Player is to get involved.  We are organizing and gaining support – please take the time to register with our Booster Club.  It is important that we track the number of Danbury kids playing and no matter what age your Hockey Playing child is please register!

Please note - The clinics and Spring League In-House Programs are provided by the Danbury Ice Arena not the Booster Club and registration and paperwork with the Ice Arena must be completed prior.
